The mission of the Saint Patrick Music for Charity Series is two-fold;
- First, to provide outstanding musical performances to the Cumberland County community.
- Second, to heighten the awareness of and raise funds for local charities through the performing arts.

 |
| In order to achieve these goals, the series aims to offer 3 or 4 concerts each season entirely free of charge to the public. These concerts are open not just to the parish but to the wider Fayetteville community. At each concert, the benefiting charity is invited to have a display in the church vestibule and to give a brief presentation about their work. A freewill collection is taken at the doors. The series expenses are funded by the generous donations of the Friends of the Music Series, through grants and through the support of Saint Patrick Catholic Church. |

2010-2011 Season
Inca Son
Music of the Andes
Thursday, September 9, 2010
7:00 P.M.
Concert Beneficiary: SANA Ministry for the Poor
César Villalobos was born to a large family in Northern Peru in 1960. His parents were poor Andean farmers who worked hard to support their 13 children. César used music and dance as a way to forget the harsh realities of his childhood including the fight against hunger. Having come to Boston in his mid-twenties he founded Inca Son on the streets of Harvard Square and has been introducing people to the rich culture of the Andes ever since.

Inca Son is recognized in Peru as a cultural ambassador to the world and we are thrilled that the group will be sharing their music and stories with us at the first concert of this year’s series. You can expect to hear not only the most familiar sikus (panpipes) but other traditional Peruvian instruments such as tarkas and the charango. Did you know that the charango, a guitar like instrument, was originally made from the carcass of an armadillo? This concert will be both educational and visually and aurally colorful – an artistic feast appropriate for the whole family. Definitely a ’don’t miss’ event.
